Advertising Policy

This page explains how paid placement and promotional features work on Eatouts, and the standards we apply to advertising on the platform.

Some paid promotion features described here are planned but not yet enabled. Where a feature is live, it will be clearly labelled on the platform.

Featured listings

A 'Featured' badge on a venue indicates editorial selection or a paid placement, depending on the surface. Featured placement does not imply that Eatouts has personally inspected the venue.

Sponsored placements

Sponsored placements are clearly labelled as 'Sponsored' or 'Promoted' on the platform. We do not allow paid placements that look identical to organic editorial content.

Deal promotions

Venues can promote deals on Eatouts. The terms, redemption method and availability of every deal are set by the venue, who is responsible for honouring it.

Clear labelling

Where Australian Consumer Law or industry guidance requires disclosure of paid placement, we apply a visible label on the relevant card or section.

No misleading advertising

  • Advertising must not be deceptive or misleading under Australian Consumer Law.
  • Pricing, savings and 'was/now' claims must be honest and substantiated.
  • Limited-time and limited-stock claims must be true at the time of promotion.

Venue responsibility for offers

The venue running an offer is responsible for ensuring the offer is accurate, honoured, and compliant with applicable laws — including consumer protection, alcohol and food safety regulations.

No guaranteed performance

Eatouts does not guarantee bookings, redemptions, traffic or revenue from any paid placement or deal promotion.

Platform review and removal rights

Eatouts may decline, edit or remove any advertising or deal that we reasonably believe is misleading, unlawful, unsafe or contrary to our policies.

Future paid features

Paid promotional features beyond what is currently live will be added progressively. Pricing and terms for paid features will be made available on the platform when those features launch.
