Content Guidelines

Last updated: May 2026

These guidelines apply to all content displayed on Eatouts, including restaurant profiles, photos, menus, deals and community submissions.

These are platform community standards. They sit alongside our /terms and /restaurant-terms.

Restaurant profile content standards

  • Use the venue's actual trading name, address and contact details.
  • Choose cuisine and feature tags that genuinely reflect what the venue offers.
  • Keep opening hours, deals and menus current.
  • Use clear, recent photos that represent the venue accurately.

Photo and menu rights

Only upload photos and menus you own or have explicit permission to use. Do not upload images watermarked by third-party photographers or stock-image sites without a valid licence.

No copied content

Do not copy descriptions, reviews, photos or menus from other websites without permission. Profile copy should describe your venue in your own words.

No misleading claims

  • Do not claim certifications, awards or affiliations you do not hold.
  • Do not advertise dietary options (vegan, gluten-free, halal, kosher, etc.) you cannot reliably provide.
  • Do not promote a deal you do not intend to honour.

No offensive or unlawful content

Content must not be defamatory, harassing, discriminatory, sexually explicit, violent or otherwise unlawful under Australian law.

Corrections and removal

If you spot content that breaches these guidelines — on your own venue or someone else's — please report it via /contact. We will review and act where appropriate.

Owner responsibility

Venue owners are responsible for the accuracy and lawfulness of content submitted on their behalf, including by staff or third-party agencies acting for them.

For questions about this policy, contact the Eatouts team via /contact. We aim to respond within two business days.
